A country of cellphones Being in a public space is definitely different from what I remember 7 years ago. Sounds are different. People are different. They talk, talk, and talk. They communicate everywhere in the frenetic search for somebody to tell something to.

With the desperate need of knowing where their body is and what he/she is doing. Electronic beeps and sounds echo everywhere. If you patient a bit, you can catch the latest Italian SanRemo hit coming from the guy's cell near you who's waiting for the bus. You can basically listen to different music without turning on a radio or a CD player. It can all be in your cell phone's memory.

Conversations among friends are continuously cut by other conversations anxious to happen. And the SMS-mania? That is a cult per se. This "Short Messages" are sent and received everywhere: from bathrooms, while talking with others, while driving... and you cannot disappoint your caller!! You have to answer! (reply in case of SMS!).

So, get ready. If you want to "fit" and be part of the crowd, get used to it and ... practice, practice, and practice! Learn quickly the fastest and most efficient way to write a "messaggino" with your phone (called T9) and you'll have soon LOTS of friends!!

Besides.... you may find that it's fun :-)
