Full immersion

Full ImmersionAfter a few days of readaptation and relaxation at my parents' apartment, I was ready to face the big challenge: a full three morning-to-night day immersions in the world known as Roman traffic!

I was very surprised for not having lost any of my driving skills. What I lost, after 7 years of driving in Ottawa, perhaps, is the aggressivity.

Never mind....after the first 20 minutes, I was cutting my way into other cars, honking at cars who did the same to me, avoiding the impressive army of scooters coming from all directions, finding my way through ancient streets built for horses. All of this, combined with actions like looking at the map, eating a "panino" and changing gears.

You may think....."what kind of stressful trip are you having?" ... well ... believe it or not, I am having lots of fun and, as long as I know that I don't have to do this for my entire life... this can even be romantic... yes, tourists are right... Rome is the capital of the world! ... and I am discovering it for the first time..
