The enchanting beauty of Dozza
I learnt about the
existence of this village because it hosts the Enoteca Regionale of
Emilia Romagna. As you know, an Enoteca Regionale is a place where we
can find all the wines of the region and where we can taste a good
sample of them (usually with a small fee). You can also buy wines and
sometimes have a small snack.
When I arrive in a town, I usually tour quickly the historical center
inside the walls to catch the essence of place, to smell the air and to
feel the character of the locals, and then I move forward. This time,
it was different: I was so enchanted by Dozza's atmosphere, attracted
by its ancient walls that I decided to stay for a couple of days.
This sweet small village is a treasure to discover. Although the entire
village counts more or less 20 streets (very narrow streets...) I spent
hours walking through them, up and down, willing to memorize each stone
with a desire to carry these memories with me. Each street has a
"murales" painted on the wall, above doors and windows, completing
arches and roofs. It is a "moving" impression that you get, of people
doing something, even if the streets are empty. The pictures I have
attached here, don't really give you this feeling. You have to be
there, and quickly move your eyes from one wall to another to be
hypnotized.
Of course, I also spent an entire morning inside the castle where the
Enoteca Regionale is located, to taste wine samples from all over the
region. For lunch I went to a small "osteria" called "Piccola Osteria
del Borgo". My table was outside, overlooking the surrounding hillsm
where I ate while caressed by a fresh breeze and a smell of roses...
The following picture doesn't need further comments...
 Tasting at Enoteca Regionale Emilia Romagna:
For this tasting I have used the following scoring system:
O=Olfatto (nose)
G=Gusto (taste)
F=Finish
Numbers go from 1(the lowest score) to 5 (the highest)
The fee for all of these wines to taste was 5 Euro. (1 Euro is almost equivalent to 1 US$)
