There are thousands of grapes types from which only a few hundred are commonly used to make wine. The grapes on their own have unique characteristics which may change for better or worst in different regions around the world. In order to indentify the hundreds or thousands of unique grapes, they are given names. However, like anything else out there that exists in more than one place in the world, grapes can have many names. Yes, it this can be very confusing.
We at Winelightenment have tried to create a couple tools to get you on your way down the grape enlightening path. You can get detailed information by clicking on the grape form either tool that includes pedigree summary and official growing countries using Google Maps.
